  • In 1996, she was selected by People Magazine in their list featuring 50 Most Beautiful People in the World.
  • The role she eventually played in I Still Know What You Did Last Summer was meant for a Caucasian girl. But after she auditioned for the role, the movie producers decided to cast her.
  • After she was cast in the role of Cinderella in the TV film with the similar name, she became the first African American actress to be cast in the iconic role. She was specially selected by the producer Whitney Houston.
