Authorities in Chicago, Illinois, USA, have apprehended a man for reportedly committing 11 robberies at the same retail establishment within a period of five months, spanning from December 2022 to April.
A news release from the Chicago Police Department revealed that Donte Elbert, a 36-year-old resident of Chicago, was taken into custody on West Belmont Avenue.
According to a spokesperson from the Chicago Police Department speaking to Fox News Digital, Elbert was apprehended when he attempted to exit the store without paying for the items, triggering his arrest.
It was further disclosed that personnel at the store Elbert targeted 11 times, situated on the 3200 block of N. Clark Street, filed formal complaints that ultimately led to his apprehension.
Elbert is also accused of stealing merchandise from another location on the 3200 block of N. Broadway.
He is now confronted with nine felony charges for theft of merchandise valued at less than $300, three felony charges for theft of merchandise exceeding $300 in value, and one misdemeanor charge for trespassing.
