Ricky Gervais is an English comedian best known for his work on the television series The Office. He was born on June 25, 1961, in Reading, Berkshire, England (2001–03).
After finishing his philosophy studies at the University of London, Gervais headed the little-known band Seona Dancing, which had a little hit in the Philippines with the song “More to Lose” in 1985.
In 1996, he joined a new radio station, XFM, and aired a show there, where he met Stephen Merchant, who became a regular collaborator. During the 1990s, Gervais wrote and performed comedic routines for the BBC TV programs Bruiser and Golden Years. He began as a regular on The 11 O’Clock Show and briefly hosted his own talk show, Meet Ricky Gervais, in 2000.
